What is regenerative farming?
See our ABOUT page.
And here's the gist: regenerative agriculture is like organic farming in that it doesn't use chemicals. But it's much more. It's all about restoring farmland back to its roots as an ecosystem. We're talking about how creatures, plants, bugs, and mycelium all work together to support life and enrich the soil - not just strip out everything we can get from the land, but actually build it up as we raise food for ourselves.
How? Through natural fertilizers, crop rotation, companion cropping, plant and animal biodiversity (as opposed to mono-cropping), and encouraging microbial life.
All of this pulls carbon back into the soil and increases the soil's capacity to hold in water to avoid erosion.
What's in it for you? Nutrient-dense food. Fruit and veggies that are grown in biodynamic soil suck up way more vitamins and minerals because they are there for the taking. Milk and cheese from grass-fed cows contain proteins and vitamins from the herd's healthy environment. You are part of this life cycle too, benefiting from regenerative farming practices.
Is the packaging reusable?
Yes! Please return these items on Thursday when you pick up your fresh order.
Egg cartons: keep cracked eggshells out of the cardboard cartons so we can bring them back to the farm and use them again.
Milk bottles: rinse out with soapy water so it's easier for us to sanitize (and less stinky for our workers)
Baskets and thermos bags: shake out any crumbs and return. We know those thermos bags are a great size for lunches, but we need them back to keep your orders cool.
Thank you for helping us meet our commitments for sustainable packaging!
WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING
-
"I’ve been on the bi-weekly Honest Farmer basket for a while now and I look forward to every delivery. I get a dozen eggs, a loaf of bread, and a jar of milk, and sometimes extras like cheeses, greens, strawberries etc. I love knowing it all comes from local regenerative farms. Everything is fresh, healthy, and packed with care.
Thank you for supporting local producers and making it easy for us to do the same!"

"The Honest Farmer subscription achieves two things for me: the ability to obtain products that are of a very high quality (I’m a bit of a health nut, and regen/totally clean products are hard to come by), and the ability to connect in a more direct way with my food sources."
